Though it hasn’t got anything to do with our story, in homage to Sine I point out that 90 miles north of Aura’s Antelope Island is where the Union Pacific Railroad from Omaha in the east got connected to the Union Pacific Railroad from San Francisco in 1869. It was Civil War veterans and Irish immigrants that laid the rails coming from the east, and, from the west, Sine please take note, two out of every three workers were Chinese seeking a better life. Kind of like my dad. This is why our Orientation Theater believes these places belong on our map. If Amtrack still offered a ride on these rails, they would be a must-see. The California Zephyr between Chicago and San Francisco comes as close as you’re going to get on a train though. So we’re not going to actually stop where the east and west tracks finally met. It was a big deal at the time though. They had a ceremony. Ever hear of the Golden Spike?
